Much has been on the news lately about the elections, prop 8, and blogging safety. I usually try not to sensor myself too much. I know that I usually just keep my blogging to myself and my family, so I am pretty safe. But I have to get this off of my chest. So here is my thoughts on the above subjects.
The Election-
First off, I am of no affiliation. I have voted Republican, Democrat, Independent... etc. But I am disappointed. I am not fond of President-Elect OBama. I knew from the get go that he would win, but I did not vote for him and am very nervous about the next 4 years. I do have a thought on the name correlation... OBama and Biden... shortened version of Osama Bin Laden??? Coincidence?? I hope so.
Prop 8 and Boycotting Utah
We are now having Californians, gays, lesbians attack the LDS church for their stance in the Prop 8 vote. I find this quite hypocritical. The LDS faith was driven west because of their faith and beliefs. They did have polygamy back then. We have long since come out against the practice of polygamy. We were unable to gain statehood until the practice was no longer allowed. Those practicing polygamy were actually jailed. Yet we are attacked for going through the same thing they are going through right now. Yet they aren't jailed. They aren't asking for equal rights for all. They just want it marriage to be redefined to be acceptable to them. But where do you draw the line? If any one can be married to anyone, why is polygamy so unaccepted? I have several gay and lesbian friends. I accept them for who they are. I am not happy with their choices in life, but it isn't my life and lifestyle to judge. I just find the whole thing a joke. If all can be married to anyone, why not anything? And passing the law would take away our freedom of religion. No one should be able to tell a religion what they deem to be worthy or unworthy. That is what revelation and scriptures are for, not the political world to define. (k, off the soap box now).
Blogging Safety
I am bad about this. This blog was to let everyone in my husbands family know about the babies. I will be better about this in the future and probably go back and change some things, but my heck. Someone could follow you home from the school or the store or anything because of something you wore or how you looked. The world is no longer safe. That is what we have to deal with. I only dread what our children will have to go through in their futures.
Just my opinion.
