Just my opinion

Several things have come to light in the past few days. It's hard to not say anything anymore, with the whole blog, facebook, twitter, text... etc. But just so you are aware....

This is just my opinion!

I am LDS.

I am proud of it. I have nothing to hide and nothing to gain by admitting it.

But this needs to be said. Freedom. It's a choice we have in all things. We can choose to live and let live or we can be "up in everyone's business". In this society, we are becoming a very verbal community. It scares me. The news is only telling you part of the story, either to inflame you or to calm you. You rarely get the whole story any more. It's kinda scary.

Take the latest LDS private property issue.

The news says:
2 guys kiss... on private property... on the cheek... are arrested for it. Public outraged. Kiss In's scheduled.

Witnesses say otherwise. Do you hear from them? No, because they are probably LDS. But if you research it... the couple kissing were on private property, and when politely asked to leave, got belligerent (along with the smell of alcohol on their breathe... what no drink in?) and finally the cops were involved.

What happened to the rights of private vs public property? If someone comes onto my property and I don't like what they are doing (no matter what that is), I have the right to ask them to leave. If they don't, then I too can call the cops. Why is this wrong? They weren't ticketed for kissing. They were ticketed for disorderly conduct.

But that is just part of the problem.

I have many friends, LDS or not, divided on issues like this. Over opinions. I respect the right to have an opinion. I respect the right to voice my opinion. I can read other's opinions without becoming inflamed. I don't say that I have to like everyone's opinion, but I will say that I value that everyone has the right to make their own opinion in any forum. Just beware. It may come back to haunt you.

Again - liked your post. It's unreal to me how many people think they ought to be able to voice their opinion and want to make you listen, but refuse to hear another's. I think for me I need to focus on my life and what I need to be doing. I also need to remind myself that we will all be judged individually and it will all turn out in the end.

I totally agree. I am so sick of politics and both sides twisting everything.

I just need to live a Christ centered life and have that be my guiding force. Not a heated news station or talk show host.

I don't know why people have to HATE other people with differing opinions. Don't we all just want to be safe, healthy, and happy?
